Mud Life of the Maumee and Ottawa Rivers is sited in the Point Place community which lies on an isthmus between the rivers and identifies very strongly with the water. The artists depicted the living food chain existing in these rivers that attracts the resort fishing that is the mainstay of this community.
The Mayfly, Sludge Worm, Larva, Clam and Polichaete are recreated in brass and embedded into a choreographed pathway system. The five figures create whimsical line work and connections within the pathways connecting the community park to the library. A technique of exposing the stone aggregate in the concrete paths, in free flowing organic shapes, was used to create an extended, water related world around the figures.

The initial phase of the project included minimal budget for planting but will be enriched over time, grasses, trees and contouring will be added later. The Fish Benches, that are part of the concept, will also be added along the paths, supported by additional funding from the community.
