65 students from Williams Middle School and Chelsea High School visited 10 local businesses, public and private. The students' responses to these experiences with the working world of Chelsea have been interpreted into their own drawings. These drawings were then sandblasted into a 100 granite pavers to create Trail Markers, which will become a permanent connection between the students and the working world. The Trail Markers will be installed at Fifth Street that is the primary route to the school from Bellingham Square at the center of downtown.
The school has a very diverse population with a high proportion of minority, non-English speaking and low-income families. The connections with local businesses, fostered through this project and strengthened by the enduring physical presence of the art works, are intended to generate on-going mentoring of the children and school programs.

Highways for the Streetscape program on Fifth Street including $30,000 for the fabrication of the granite pavers that will contain the student designs.
