| How We Work: We often consult with cities, public agencies and institutions at an early stage of their thinking, to help devise innovative ways to solve urban design problems and introduce art into their environment. We also work with corporate clients who want to contribute to the public environment. | |||||||||||||||||
For each commission our project evolves in response to the place, the landscape, the climate, the buildings, the streets, the people, the
stories. There is no formula for our approach, but in general we start with
certain investigations:
Our conceptual proposals grow out of these on-site activities. They often incorporate the surrounding architectural and site elements, "leveraging" the concept for a larger effect.
| The Process: We always make some of the components of the work in our studio, refining and crafting, to insure an intimacy and a sense of surprise for the people experiencing the piece. We are certain that these relatively small, intense, personal experiences in the public environment contribute to sustaining the greater community. | ![]() | ||||||||||||||||

Most of our projects involve extensive interaction with the host communities. Often the process is as important as the product. Several projects incorporate yearly festive events and recurring temporary installations. We have also worked extensively with schools and created educational programs.
